unpredictable tech..

Was watching discovery yesterday.. Medical sciences.. Its scary the cases that they discuss..

This time was about anaesthesia that hasn't really worked! Meaning.. the doctors Think that the patient does not sense anything on the operating table.. the tearing of their skin and the cuts and twists and all other torturous things you may want to think of..but... thats just what they think!! The fact is that the person very much feels the pain and is aware of the operation being done. The throbbing pain as well.. nevertheless.. cannot let the doc know. guess why.. coz the paralytic affect is at work!! Phew! Sure the person would never ever want to get back to the hosp! Wonder what abt those who suffer from something that needs another round of operation!!

Pray that no one goes thru this!

Come to think of it.. in what way can the doc know of the patients state? the heart beats? or BP? or... something else??

What use of those funky monitors that they have all over the place.. showing some red yellow green lines.. lotttts of numbers.. graphs.. if they cant tell from that... then... perhaps they should consider using it some toy store orr.. mmm..forget it.. even kids nowadays dont like toys that kind.. just go dump it in trash!

home sick...

Its been months since i last laid my feet on the lands of Hyd! am home sick.. Thought it was high time i should visit there again. Discussed with folks back home of my intensions..The immediate reaction from hubby was "go next month, plzzz"! Was wondering if he was missing me already !! heheh.. yeh.. just a wild thought off MY brain.. reminds me of unowho.. once said.. it takes less than a day for a man to miss his wife! :P hmmm anyways.. decided to go this weekend.. So now.. i had to make a booking with the road transport for friday evening volvo. Still not very familiar with the place, had to go to someone who had registered themselves with the just dial service. got to know that there is a place called Madiwala..close to electronics city.. about 10kms from my workplace.. A super crowded and hyper busy place it happens to be.. and i was told by an autowallah that the best time to go there would be in afternoon, that way we could save being caught up in peak hour traffic. So went to Madiwala with a friend in the lunch time. Soon as we enter the place.. all eyes on us.. and i hear two guys simultaneously ask.. "Yes mam...where do you want to go?" i thought for a sec and sweetly answered.. on a free trip to switzerland.. can you arrange for that?! one of the guys astounded asked 'switggerrland??'hehehehee.. it was funny!! Told him that my switggerrland is also called Hyderabad.. adn then followed a series of questions... which day? morning/evening? ac/non-ac? how many passengers? etc etc.. i kind of liked the way he was doing business.. n out of curiosity.. just asked him.. where else do you have booking counters..preferrably within city. to which he said.. MG Road! and thats like 2 mins from my place!!! less than a Km. It was my turn to be astounded! :( (sob sob) i now tell myself.. there's always a next time.

Good part is..this weekend will be wid my parents and dearest bro.. and some friends if time permits. :) i am glad am going to hyd.. There is no better place than hyd.. THE best! me comiiiing hyd! :D yooooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooo :D

A journey from Bangalore to Bengaluru

On the 50th birthday of the state on 1st Nov 2006, the government decides that the name of the cities has become a bit too old and needs to undergo a change. So now there is no more of "Bangalore" but a "bengaluru"(Spelt as bun-gaa-loo-roo).. No Mangalore but a "Mangaluru". No more of Mysore but a Mysuru....
Aarrghhh! How i hate the new names.. ! Some people are such maniacs.. why would they want to change the name of the IT hub in India?! People all over the world know about Bangalore.. How are they going to relate to bengaluru? How are they even gonna spell it! Its such a tongue twister!
And all this happens in the name of 'Public Interest'. What public are they talking about.. Ask any sane citizen and he'll give you a dozen reasons of why we love it for what it is! The Govt just wants to get back in time by over 200 yrs... than move ahead! Bewakoof log! I haven't changed my outlook signature yet.. and i dont plan to in the near future! sometimes i think.. maybe people will just get used to it.. Like they have with Mumbai .. and chennai.. no one says Bombay or Madras now.. Maybe someday no one will remember Bangalore.. :(

A promise..

Hey.. Got an idea! Wonder why it didnt strike to me earlier! I had been sulking coz i wasn't able to mail to anyone... or update my blog.. but know what?!?! Now i can! Yoooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooo!! nah nah.. my company still hasn't given access to internet. Nor has the mail settings changed! :(Hmmmmmmm... You know corporates like these... who cut themselves off from the rest of the world for the fear of information leakage / data stealing, forget that technology gets the better of them!! We are not allowed bring in floppies.. CDs.. DVDs.. etc.. nor do we have access to the drives. But then.. what about the USB ports...?? heheh! Thats something to think about! All you need is a pen drive.. or even an ipod! And thats what i am doing today. Got my Ipod to work..mmmmmmm..hey wait!! Gosh!! What you think!!! no! not for trading confidential data that my company so dearly holds onto! All i intended was to listen to some songs while i didnt have any much work for today! And voila!! i realise.. i can do muuuuccccch more! :DSo here i am.. drafting the blog after a reaaaaaaaaaaaaal long time. I dont rememember the last time i had writen to anyone at all.. except for just ONE mail that i'd sent to Hitz.. on Diwali! Anyways.. guys.. i think i will now be able to manage and keep the blog updated! Keep visiting.. You dont know how much i like it when you are here! ;)

My new job.

I had composed this blog about two months ago.. posting it now finally! You will need to adjust to the references to time....


Heyylooo guys! yeah yeah.. i know its been a long time. Nevertheless.. I have News! I am finally back to the usual routine.. well.. ALMOST usual routine.. Got back to working! yiiiiiiiiipppieee! Isnt that great?!? Feels so good to start working again. oh by the way.. to those who are unaware.. I quit working at VL two months ago, coz i had to move to bangalore after my wedding with sid. Bangalore is quite a nice city (not as nice as hyd though).. for.. its Veeerry crowded.. very polluted.. very expensive.. very IT.. :P not to mention the exxxtremely bad traffic! All it has is shopping malls and hundreds of pubs and discs..and THATS ALL!! Ok coming back to the point.. my new job! Joined a UK based comp here as a SQA.. am into finance domain.. (totally new to me! know Nothing in finance!!) Nevertheless.. the company thinks that its not a big issue and can be learnt in 'no time'! Huh!! How ppl have high hopes!! Anyways.. here are a few good and not so good things abt the new job..
GoOD:
1. I got back to work as SQA! ( i was losing hopes.. ) also, friends tell me that finance is a good domain.. (I'll tell you wht i think in a few mnths)
2. Its a grreat learning ground.
3. The company pays me well :D Yippie!!
4/ The place is about 3kms away from home.. meaning 20 min drive on a avg day. (I used to travel for over a hour and half for my previous job at hyd! n dat was 26 km from home) phew!!
5. People here are very friendly .. always smiling :) and thorough professionals!


Not so good:
No access to internet during office hours! Man that suckkkkkkkkkkkks!!! I hate it.. I can quit the job for this reason!!
But wait... theres more.. We cant mail to anyone outside the domain (group)!!!Now, have you ever heard of that!! Huh! Dont ask hows dat possible! Its happening here.. i cant send mails to anyone but my own collegues who sit right beside me! no one outside the company!! Gosh! What are they trying to prove??!??!!?!?Bad! I dont like it a bit!!
Do you think i can go to the director and give her a piece of my brain? The point is..how can you put up a limit to ones knowledge? Ofcourse you need net to get to know all the things in the world! I even used to read the NEWS on Net(Never had much time for the newspaper)!My GK is gonna go down the drain! :(
Anyways.. lemme not complain too much.. for there are more pros than cons for now!
Its nice to be working here.. i am able to manage home and work quite well.. thanks to the work timings! Keeps everyone happy!
